DEMAT Safeguarding Policy Safeguarding for Volunteers and Visitors

At Orchards CE Academy we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff members working with children are advised to maintain an attitude of ‘it could happen here’ where safeguarding is concerned. We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support children, families and staff at school.

We ensure that all staff receive appropriate training, guidance and support to undertake the effective safeguarding of children.

On rare occasions our concern about a child may mean that we have to consult other agencies even before we contact you. The procedures, which we follow, have been laid down by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Area Child Protection Committee, and the school has adopted a Child Protection Policy in line with this for the safety of all.

If you are ever concerned about the safety or well‐being of someone at our academy please talk to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads

The Designated Safeguarding Leader is Sarah Cullen

In the event the DSL being absent, the following members of staff are also trained Designated Safeguarding Leads:

Designated Safeguarding Lead and Family worker: Julie Carlile

Designated Safeguarding Lead, Lead for Children in care and Previously care experienced children and Prevent Lead: Julie Harrison

Designated Safeguarding Lead: Colleen Horlock

Designated Safeguarding Lead: Megan Carter

The Nominated Safeguarding Governor: Betty Hasler

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns about your child or other children at our school. If you believe that a child is in imminent danger, please contact Peterborough and Cambs Social Care or the Police.

If you are worried about a child and you cannot contact someone in school please ring Cambs and Peterborough Safeguarding Children’s team Direct on 0345 0455203 or 01733 235724 or telephone the Police by calling 999.
